Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was the first Olympic project to include a series of permanent artworks embedded into its landscape during construction. The 26 artworks were created by renowned and emerging artists, both local and international, and installed alongside the construction of the venues. Inspired by the sculpted landscape, buried histories, community memories, flowing water, and ideas of shelter and discovery, they provide another narrative to this richly textured part of east London.
Led by former Head of Arts and Culture for the Park, Adriana Marques, and Ruth Holmes, Design Principal for Landscape and Public Realm at LLDC, the tour will walk through the Park stopping at approximately 15 artworks, discussing their inspiration, installation and how they relate to the Park’s landscape today.
The route will be accessible. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
