Programme Manager, LFA

We are looking for a highly motivated Programme Manager with a proven track record of working with different partners on development and delivery of architecture and design related events to join the team and take responsibility for the overall co-ordination of the festival activity in 2022 Festival Destinations.The role will provide a critical level of support to the team and will include working with a broad group of external partners on planning, co-ordination and delivery of individual programmes of activity in each of our Festival Destinations.The Programme Manager will work closely with Director, London Festival of Architecture to establish new projects and oversee them from inception to delivery. The role has a key position in the London Festival of Architecture team and will require working with multiple key stakeholders, delivery partners and wider NLA team.

 

Reports to – Director, London Festival of Architecture

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000, dependent on experience

Contract: Six-month contract with the possibility of extension

 

About the London Festival of Architecture

The London Festival of Architecture (LFA) is the world’s largest annual architecture festival and is managed by New London Architecture. New London Architecture (NLA) is the independent membership organisation for discussion, debate and information about architecture, planning and development in London.

LFA has a mission to support London’s architectural and design talent, enthuse and engage with the public, and find new ways to look at familiar places. The vast majority of events are free and are staged by a core festival programming team working alongside architecture and design practices and practitioners, leading cultural and academic institutions, artists and many others. We create important opportunities for emerging architects and designers and bring together broad groups of stakeholders, including professionals, local government representatives, local communities and the wider public.

Main duties and responsibilities  

  • Collaborate with clients to produce planned programme of activity for specific areas
  • Lead on and manage the relationship with key stakeholder and partners, including organisation of stakeholder briefings
  • Project manage several festival projects delivered by the core festival team in key areas, this could include public realm exhibitions and/or commissions
  • Work closely with comms team on communications plan for Festival Destinations
  • Work closely with the graphic design team to co-ordinate and produce merchandise and signage for Festival Destinations, including trail maps
  • Develop and maintain relationships at all levels internally and externally
  • Work with other Programme Managers to ensure the successful delivery of the London Festival of Architecture
  • Manage project budgets

 

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate:

  • High interest in architecture and built environment industry. An architecture or related field background is desirable
  • Previous experience of working on planning, co-ordination and production of events, ideally in a similar role
  • The ability to work on fast-paced projects and to proactively manage opportunities and risks
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to prioritise effectively, managing a busy diary and varied workload to meet demands and deadlines
  • Confident working with a good degree of autonomy and a flexible approach in terms of working hours and participation
